Grand Cherokee ZJ / ZG

1993 - 1998

The new top-of-the range model from Jeep was showcased for the first time at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in 1992. Just like the Jeep Concept 1 had done in 1989, the Grand Cherokee copied the full size and format of the Jeep SJ Grand Wagoneer and of the grown-up competitors from Europe USA, Japan and Europe.

The new top-of-the-range model offered demanding customers elegance coupled with spaciousness. The level of trim increased in three steps. The Base model is still frugal, while the Laredo offered aluminum wheels, central door-locking, power windows as well as cruise control. It became the Base model in 1997. The Grand Cherokee Limited spoiled its passengers with leather seats as standard, with power-adjusted heated fronts seats as an option. An electric sliding roof and an on-board computer were also available as extras.
