CJ-7

1976 - 1986

Convinced of the success of a more spacious CJ, Jeep launched the CJ-7 with family-friendly qualities in 1976. This Jeep came with the option of a hardtop roof instead of the traditional fabric softtop as well as with steel doors which had retractable windows and were no longer cut out so deep.
With a wheelbase of 2370 mm and length of 3890 mm, the chassis, was not stretched as much as that of the CJ-6. In the course of time the CJ-7 was offered with an automatic limited slip differential on the rear axle.

The permanent four-wheel drive, „Quadra-Trac“ was only made available with a three-speed automatic gearbox.
The CJ-7 was also more attractive for private customers because, in addition to the basic version, it came in the Renegade and Golden Eagle versions. As the top-of-the-range model, the Laredo shone out through the liberal use of chrome for the radiator, bumpers, wheels and exterior mirrors.
